The 2016 Guatemala team was busy getting ready for our upcoming Guatemalan midwife project, August 1-20. We spent Saturday and Sunday training seven Providers and eight Master Trainers in Helping Mothers Survive and Helping Babies Breathe. A Provider is an individual trained in the skills of resuscitating infants born not breathing and mothers suffering from life threatening hemorrhage following birth. A Master Trainer is certified to teach these skills to new learners. Seven of the eight Master Trainers are volunteers on the Guatemala team and will teach these life saving measures to indigenous birth attendants throughout the country.
