Yesterday afternoon the second wave of Help 2 Others volunteers arrived in Arusha. Carolyn & Alex were welcomed with open arms by our wonderful host families, and the day ended with a special birthday celebration for our H2O secretary, Elizaphy. We dined like kings and queens on the most amazing African cuisine. Our evening concluded with prayers, pictures, and singing praises to the Lord.
We kicked off this Thursday morning at the Arusha Lutheran Medical Center. At the ALMC, we met with the medical and finance directors, had a brief time of fellowship, pictures (of course!), a meet and greet with the charge nurse of the NICU and a tour of their facility. ALMC is known for being one of the best NICUs in Tanzania. We were blessed with a “kiss from heaven” as founder, Karen, likes to call it, when she recognize one of their machines being put to use was a machine previously donated by Hope 2 Others. Following the tour, we traveled to the ALMC Training Center and began our second day of teaching. The day included the final exercises of the Helping Mothers Survive training and examination, followed by the completion of the Helping Babies Breathe curriculum. It was a fun day of laughing and learning for all.
At the conclusion of today’s programming, we also received word that the letter we were anxiously awaiting government signatures on had finally arrived. Signed, sealed, delivered, it’s OURS! Our container is to depart the port and be in the hands of H2O in just a few days. Thank you Jesus!
